Eagles-Colts Injury Report: Indianapolis missing two defensive starters

Eagles injury update for Friday, September 12th, 2014.

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

There isn't anything new to glean from the Philadelphia Eagles' Friday injury report.

Offensive line Matt Tobin (ankle) and rookie wide receiver Josh Huff (shoulder) still aren't practicing. Both players still might be a week or more away from returning, according to updates from Thursday's practice.

Running back Chris Polk (hamstring) was once again a full participant in practice. It remains to be seen if he will play. If Polk can't play, LeSean McCoy and Darren Sproles will be the only two active running backs on game day. Eagles head coach Chip Kelly noted he feels comfortable with having tight end Trey Burton as an emergency running back behind McCoy and Sproles. Kelly said Burton has taken repetitions at running back in practice. It's also worth noting Burton rushed for 720 yards on 153 attempts (4.7 average) and 16 TDs in four years playing college football at Florida.

Speaking of "emergency" backups, Kelly unsurprisingly noted that veteran wide receiver Brad Smith is the team's third string game day quarterback behind starter Nick Foles and backup Mark Sanchez. Smith played quarterback in college. The Eagles only opt to keep two full-time pass throwers active on game-day with second-year quarterback Matt Barkley often placed on the inactive list.
