NFL Roster Cuts: Former Eagles players released and signed around the league

The NFL's final cuts period is over and several players are still looking for new homes. A good portion of the former Eagles players around the league were impacted by cuts in some way, shape or form. BGN loves to keep track of the former members of the Eagles organization, so we have noted the movement of several of those players down below.

Recently Cut Eagles

• Running back Henry Josey went unclaimed on the waiver wire and ended up on the Jaguars practice squad. He's a good fit for Jacksonville with similar backs on the roster like Denard Robinson and Jordan Todman.

• Nose tackle Damion Square was claimed off of waivers by the Chiefs on Sunday. He will likely backup Dontari Poe at the position. Square spent all of last season with the Eagles, appearing in 10 games and collecting four tackles.

• Wide receiver Damaris Johnson was claimed by the Texans on Sunday. He spent two seasons with the Eagles after going undrafted in 2012. In Houston, Johnson will compete for snaps behind Andre Johnson and DeAndre Hopkins with DeVier Posey and Keshawn Martin.

• Offensive guard Karim Barton has made the Browns roster just one week after being waived by the Eagles. The small school guard was told Saturday that he had made the team after spending just a few days in Cleveland. Update: He was cut Sunday after a major waivers purge by Cleveland.

• Offensive guard Donald Hawkins was claimed by the Browns as well last week, but was cut on Saturday. He was picked up by the Cowboys on Sunday and is now on their active roster. It's obviously been a whirlwind few days for Hawkins, who was on the Eagles, Browns and Cowboys rosters all within a few days.

• Off-season "feel good story" Alejandro Villanueva has signed with the Steelers practice squad. The converted defensive end was waived during the first batch of cuts before the fourth preseason game.

• Tight end/fullback Emil Igwenagu was claimed by the Lions last week and was then cut on Saturday. He passed through waivers and signed with Detroit's practice squad. Igwenagu spent two seasons on-and-off Philadelphia's active roster and practice squad.

• Linebacker Emmanuel Acho, guard Josh Andrews, offensive tackle Kevin Graf, defensive tackle Wade Keliikipi, wide receiver Will Murphy, safety Ed Reynolds, running back Matthew Tucker and wide receiver Quron Pratt all cleared waivers and are now signed to Philadelphia's practice squad.

• Kicker Alex Henery, wide receiver Ifeanyi Momah, cornerbacks Curtis Marsh and Roc Carmichael, quarterback G.J. Kinne, linebacker Josh Kaddu and safety Keelan Johnson have all cleared waivers and have yet to be signed to another team's active roster or practice squad.

Former Eagles Elsewhere

• Safety Kurt Coleman was cut by the Vikings on Saturday. The veteran is vested so he automatically became a free agent and has yet to sign elsewhere as of Sunday night. He spent four years with the Eagles and compiled 221 tackles and seven interceptions while in Philadelphia.

• Linebacker Moise Fokou cut by the Titans on Saturday. The veteran was a seventh round pick of the Eagles in 2009 and played three season in Philadelphia before traded to the Colts in 2012. He spent last season in Tennessee as the team's starting middle linebacker.

• Linebacker Phillip Hunt cut by the Colts this weekend. The former CFL standout spent last season on injured reserve nursing an ACL tear and was on the cusp of becoming a restricted free agent. However, the Eagles didn't offer a tender, so he was free to sign elsewhere with no strings attached. He spent two seasons on the active roster with the Eagles and is probably best suited in a 4-3 defense.

• Running back David Fluellen was also cut by the Colts. He signed earlier this summer with the Eagles, but was traded during the preseason for new starting kicker Cody Parkey. He only had a week in Indianapolis, so perhaps he'll get another chance on a practice squad.

• Running back Dion Lewis was cut by the Browns on Saturday. The former Pittsburgh ball carrier was traded to the Browns for linebacker Emmanuel Acho last off-season. He never played a down for Cleveland after spending all of last season on injured reserve. He was a bit of a surprise cut as he had a good off-season and even Joe Banner was shocked he wasn't claimed on waivers.

• The Ravens cut offensive guard A.Q. Shipley this weekend. He was claimed off of waivers by the Colts, who traded the former Eagles practice squad center to Baltimore before last season. He may become Colts starting center with Khaled Holmes injured.

• The Chargers cut defensive lineman Joe Kruger less than a week after being claimed by San Diego. The Eagles cut him during the first departures of training camp. He went unclaimed on Sunday.

• The Jets cut cornerback Dimitri Patterson. The former Eagles cornerback was suspended by the Jets for failing to report back to camp after the team's third preseason game. He was reportedly upset over the depth on the Jets roster.

• Kick returner Marcus Thigpen was cut by the Dolphins. He was the team's returner for two seasons after a stint in the CFL. Thigpen signed with the Eagles in 2009 as an undrafted free agent but was cut in the preseason.

• Quarterback Mike Kafka was cut by the Buccaneers. The 2010 fourth round pick of the Eagles passed through waivers and was signed to Tampa Bay's practice squad.

• Tight end Chase Ford was cut by the Vikings. The 2012 undrafted free agent signed with the Eagles in 2012 and then spent the last two seasons with the Vikings. He had a pretty impressive game against Philadelphia last season with two catches for 55 yards. He went unclaimed on Sunday and signed with Minnesota's practice squad.

• Defensive end Darryl Tapp was cut by the Lions. The veteran signed with the Lions in the off-season after one year with the Redskins. He spent three seasons with the Eagles after being acquired from Seattle for defensive end Chris Clemons.

• Defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga was cut by the Cardinals. He was signed just weeks ago after being cut by the Patriots earlier this off-season. He spent the first half of last season with the Eagles before being dealt to New England.

• Eagles 2013 draft pick David King was cut by the Bengals on Saturday. He cleared waivers and signed with Cincinnati's practice squad on Sunday. He has been on the practice squad since being cut by the Eagles after last year's preseason.

Made Another Roster

• Safety/special teams ace Colt Anderson has made the Colts roster. He will meet the Eagles again in Week 2 with Indianapolis facing Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. Anderson spent three seasons with the Eagles before signing with the Colts this off-season.

• Safety Patrick Chung has made the Patriots initial 53-man roster. He was cut by the Eagles earlier this off-season. He spent last season in Philadelphia with less-than-desirable results. Chung's inclusion on the Patriots roster saves the Eagles $1 million.

• Last year's training camp competition for Donnie Jones, punter Brad Wing, is now the new starter in Pittsburgh. He was out of the league for all of last season after the Eagles cut the then-undrafted rookie.

• Cornerback Shaun Prater made the Vikings roster. He was on the Eagles active roster for one game last season after being claimed off of waivers by the Bengals. He owns the distinction of being one of the two players to intercept a Nick Foles' pass in 2013.

• Eagles 2013 seventh round pick Jordan Poyer has made the Browns roster. He has been with Cleveland since midway through last season after the Eagles cut him. He appeared in three games for the Eagles before being waived and claimed by the Browns. He has converted from cornerback to strong safety.

• Running back Bryce Brown has made the Bills roster. He was traded to Buffalo during the NFL Draft and played well in the preseason before suffering an injury in the fourth game. His status is unclear for Week 1 but he is on the 53-man roster as of Sunday night.

• Safety Jaiquawn Jarrett has once again made the Jets roster. He played for New York last season after spending just over a season in Philadelphia.

• Pass rusher Jason Babin has also made the Jets roster. He was cut by the Jaguars earlier this off-season and signed with New York.

• Running back Ronnie Brown has made the Texans roster as a veteran backup. He played his last two seasons in San Diego since his one-year stint in Philadelphia.

• Outside linebacker Andy Studebaker has made the Colts roster. He was a draft pick of the Eagles in 2008 but was cut prior to his rookie year. He spent last season in Indianapolis and the previous five in Kansas City.

• Tight end Clay Harbor has made the Jaguars roster. He was claimed off of waivers by Jacksonville after last season's final cuts and re-signed this off-season. He played for the Eagles for three seasons as Brent Celek's backup.

• Quarteback Michael Vick is the sole backup to Jets starter Geno Smith. There is no shock there after Vick spent five up-and-down seasons in Philadelphia.

• Linebacker Joe Mays has made the Chiefs roster. He has spent the past few years with the Texans and Broncos after being traded to Denver by the Eagles in 2010.

• Offensive tackle King Dunlap has made the Chargers roster. He will be the starting left tackle again in San Diego.

• Center/guard Dallas Reynolds has made the Giants roster. He will serve as a backup.

• Defensive tackles Mike Patterson and Cullen Jenkins have also made the Giants roster. This is both of their second seasons with the Giants. They figure to be part of a heavy rotation.

• Cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie will be a starter for the Giants this season. He spent last season in Denver.

• Linebacker Akeem Jordan has made the Redskins roster. He spent last season with the Chiefs after leaving Philadelphia as a free agent.

• Wide receiver Jason Avant has made the Panthers 53-man roster. He will spend his first season in Carolina after being a member of the Eagles for his first eight years in the league.

• Special teams ace Russell Shepard has made the Buccaneers roster. He was waived during final cuts by the Eagles last year and claimed by Tampa Bay. It looks like he is a permanent fit there.

• Defensive end Chris Clemons has made the Jaguars roster. This will be his first season in Jacksonville after playing several years with Seattle. The Seahawks cut him earlier this off-season.

• Defensive tackle Broderick Bunkley still remains with the Saints. He serves as the team's nose tackle.

• Running back Joique Bell is the primary backup for Reggie Bush. He signed a long-term deal this off-season and has come a long way since being a weekly inactive on the Eagles roster.
