Riley Cooper, Nolan Carroll, Bennie Logan out for Eagles vs. Bears

A number of Philadelphia Eagles players will be sitting out for the team's first 2014 preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without a number of players heading into their game against the Chicago Bears on Friday night.

The following players have been ruled out and will not play:

Wide receiver Riley Cooper (foot)

Wide receiver Jeff Maehl (ankle)

Cornerback Nolan Carroll II (groin/hamstring)

Nose tackle Bennie Logan (hamstring)

Running back Chris Polk (hamstring)

Inside linebacker Jake Knott (hamstring)

Center Julian Vandervelde (back)

There's no indication that these injuries are serious but they're obviously serious enough to prevent these players from playing. This is essentially the same list of players that have been held out of Eagles training camp practices in recent days.

Eagles wide receiver Jeremy Maclin is active and expected to play for the first time since 2012.

Backup nose tackle Damion Square will start in place of the injured Logan. Depth wide receiver Arrelious Benn will start in place of the injured Cooper.

All other Eagles players are expected to play. Note that the starters may only play around 10 to 15 snaps.

Update: Here's a look at the inactive players for Chicago.
