According to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, the Philadelphia Eagles are targeting depth at inside linebacker.
Eagles are indeed on the hunt for inside linebacking help, I understand...
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) August 30, 2014
This report makes sense given the reports from Friday that Eagles linebacker Travis Long has torn his ACL and will be out for the season. The Eagles were cross-training the versatile Long, typically an outside linebacker, to also play on the inside. With news of Long's injury also came the news that the Eagles will be keep linebacker Casey Matthews and cutting Emmanuel Acho.
DeMeco Ryans and Mychal Kendricks project to be the starters at inside linebacker while Najee Goode should be the first player off the bench. Matthews is the fourth inside linebacker and can contribute on special teams.
The Eagles will likely target a depth inside linebacker that's available in a trade or placed on waivers. Bleeding Green Nation is keeping track of cuts around the NFL here.
