Report: Eagles tryout quarterback Thad Lewis

The Eagles may be looking at quarterback options if they can deal Matt Barkley.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

Veteran quarterback Thad Lewis has had a recent tryout with the Eaglesaccording to USA Today's Tom Pelissero. The passer was cut by the Bills earlier in the week and has worked out for the Eagles since then. The tryout may be regarding the practice squad or as a potential third-string quarterback if the Eagles decide to trade Matt Barkley.

The former undrafted quarterback out of Duke started his career in St Louis with the Rams in 2010. He eventually was cut and joined the Browns under current Eagles offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur. Lewis would likely understand the Eagles terminology due to his past relationship with Shurmur. In his four-year career, Lewis has started six of the seven games that he has appeared in and has a career passer rating of 81.4. He has 1,296 passing yards, five passing touchdowns, 55 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on his resume. He is 2-4 as a starter.

This will definitely be something to monitor as final cuts continue and the Eagles tweak their roster.
