UPDATE: New tracker now available for Saturday, August 30th.
...
The Eagles have started the to trim their roster down to 53. These moves are the first of what will be 21 cuts (plus putting Lane Johnson on reserve/suspended) to take place between now and Saturday afternoon. The Eagles have until 4:00 PM EST on Saturday, August 30th to get their roster down to the 53-player limit.
Stay tuned to this thread for lives updates on Eagles cuts today, Friday, August 29th. Keep in mind the Eagles released 13 players on the day before the deadline last year to trim the roster down to 62 before cutting 9 more on Saturday.
Cuts and updates
The Eagles roster currently stands at around 66. That leaves 13 more moves to be made. In case you were wondering, the waiver period for the weekend ends at noon on Sunday.
By the way, Dave here with you keeping you updated. Thanks for reading.
[9:45 PM EST] NJ.com reports that Casey Matthews is safe for a roster spot yet again. Emmanuel Acho is released.
[9:12 PM EST] McLane reports that linebacker Travis Long has torn his ACL and will likely miss the entire 2014 season. That's a bummer.
[7:43 PM EST] NJ.com reporting that Cody Parkey will make the 53 man roster, meaning that Alex Henery is almost certainly out.
#Eagles have decided to keep Cody Parkey, multiple sources have confirmed to http://t.co/9oo2avuO9a. http://t.co/zELFC44PLG

[6:10 PM EST] In other news around the league that effects the Eagles, the Patriots appear to be keeping Patrick Chung. Due to offsets, if Chung does make the Patriots roster, his $1M in base guarantees would count against the Patriots' cap, meaning the Eagles would save $1M in cap space. Thanks New England!
[4:20 PM EST] In news that effects the Eagles a little bit, the NFL dropped a bomb on the 49ers, suspending LB Aldon Smith 9 games for " for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substance Abuse and the league's Personal Conduct Policy." This matters for the Eagles because they visit San Francisco in Week 4, so Smith will not be available for that game. Too bad for them.
[4:03 PM EST] Not a roster move, but perhaps foreshadowing one, the Eagles have kicked the tires on former Bills QB Thad Lewis, which could be part of a domino scenario that sees Matt Barkley's days as an Eagle come to a close.
[3:51 PM EST] In other "he made the roster, so someone else didn't we just don't know who yet" news, Chris Polk appears to have made it:
Hearing the same as @LesBowen: Early indications are that TE Trey Burton will make the 53. The same can be said of RB Chris Polk.

[3:48 PM EST] Our own Mike Kaye confirms that Benn has been placed on short term IR:
Source confirms that Arrelious Benn is on the short term IR as initially reported by @GeoffMosherCSN
— Mike Kaye (@mike_e_kaye) August 29, 2014
Short term IR means that when the player returns to health (passes a physical), they must be released and can not re-sign with that team. More on this here.
[3:36 PM EST] WR Quron Pratt has been released, but may wind up on the practice squad.
Eagles release WR Quron Pratt, per source. Palmyra native is a practice squad candidate.

[3:24 PM EST] Not a cut, but a move that impacts cuts: Trey Burton has apparently made the 53 man roster. More on this move from Dan Klausner.
Tight end Trey Burton is on the Eagles' 53, I'm told. Good for him. Minor surprise...
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) August 29, 2014
Meanwhile Damaris Johnson is on the trade block.
[3:11 PM EST] Arrelious Benn is being placed on injured reserve:

Geoff Mosher is reporting that Benn is being placed on short term IR:
BTW, that's short-term IR for Benn, per source,

[2:51 PM EST] No mo' Momah
Eagles to release Ifeanyi Momah, per league sources. ...6-7 WR still developing
— Zach Berman (@ZBerm) August 29, 2014
[2:21 PM EST] Henry Josey appears to be the next to be released. More on that here.
#Eagles are planning to waive UDFA RB Henry Josey, source said.

[1:30 PM EST] The first cuts are in, C/G Josh Andrews and QB G.J. Kinne.
The Eagles have told GJ Kinne he'll be released. He played well, just no spot for him.
— Reuben Frank (@RoobCSN) August 29, 2014
The Philadelphia Eagles just released Josh Andrews, C/G from #OregonState. This guy isn't going to be unemployed for long.
— Brett Tessler (@TesslerSports) August 29, 2014
Josh Andrews will likely choose the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad if nobody claims him off waivers. #OregonState #EagleNation
— Brett Tessler (@TesslerSports) August 29, 2014
The Eagles likely kept Andrews around for the final Jets game because they needed an extra center with starter Jason Kelce sitting out and primary backup David Molk playing for most of the game.
Kinne has had a decent summer for himself but the Eagles weren't in the position to keep four quarterbacks. Kinne couldn't close the gap between himself and third string Eagles quarterback Matt Barkley.
