Matt Tobin Injury: Eagles offensive lineman receives negative X-ray on left ankle

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports
UPDATE:

Tobin's X-rays were negative. He will not return to action against the Jets, however.

...

Philadelphia Eagles backup offensive guard Matt Tobin is getting X-rays on his left ankle after leaving the Eagles-Jets preseason game on Thursday night. Tobin is questionable to return to the game.

Tobin suffered the injury early into the game. The backup offensive lineman fell to the ground hard when a Jets defended crashed into Tobin's knee. It did not look pretty and Tobin spent some time on the ground while trainers came out to look at him.

Tobin would eventually get up and walk off the field on his own power. Tobin was monitored on the Eagles' trainers table before eventually heading back inside to the team's locker room.

Tobin isn't a starter but he's had a great summer and figures to be one of the key backups along the Eagles offensive line. Tobin might even be in the mold of the next Allen Barbre; that is, a backup offensive lineman who figures to be the first player off the bench at every position except for center.
