As reported earlier, the Philadelphia Eagles and Carolina Panthers made a trade late on Tuesday night. Here are the details.
Philadelphia Eagles receive: Running back and returner Kenjon Barner
Carolina Panthers receive: 2015 conditional 7th round draft pick
So obviously there aren't any huge pieces in this deal. Barner was a 6th round draft pick in 2013 and has failed to impress in limited opportunities at the NFL level. That being said, he was a very accomplished player in college and he's being reunited with former Oregon Ducks and current Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly with whom he experienced great success.
I would say this looks like a pretty good deal for both sides. A win-win, if you will. The Eagles get to take a flyer on a player at almost no cost. If Barner doesn't make Philadelphia's roster, the Eagles likely won't have to even surrender a pick. Meanwhile, if Barner does manage to warrant a roster spot, Carolina gets a late round pick for a player they were going to cut anyway.
