A theme the SB Nation NFL sites have been done in the past and will continue to do throughout this upcoming season is "Which [opposing team's] player would [your favorite team's] fans take?" With the Eagles set to take on the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, it's time to address the question.
The first option that comes to mind is Steelers outside linebacker Jason Worilds. Worilds, who was set to become an unrestricted free agent earlier this offseason, never had the chance to enter free agency because the Steelers designated him with the transition tag. Worilds, who would have been one of the few attractive 3-4 outside linebackers on the free market market, was reportedly a "primary target" for the Eagles.
The Eagles still need a pass rusher and Worilds makes sense. He's only 26. Per Pro Football Focus, Worilds led the NFL in quarterback hits in 2013 by recording 21. He also finished with 21 hurries and 8 sacks. Worilds recorded a total of 48 pressures in 362 pass rush snaps, which was the 8th best pass rushing productivity rate for all the 3-4 outside linebackers.
While Worilds would be a nice choice, there might be a better overall option on the offensive side of the ball. Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown, also 26 years old, is coming off an excellent 2013 season where he finished second in total receptions (110). Brown finished two yards shy of the 1500 receiving yard mark and caught 8 touchdown passes. With a 6.0 YAC/reception and 16 broken tackles, he was clearly a weapon after he caught the ball.
Brown can also contribute on special teams. In 2013 he returned a total of 32 punts for 409 yards and one touchdown. His 12.8 average tied for third best among qualified punt returners.
Other Steelers players of interest include safety Troy Polamalu. No offense to the The Tasmanian Devil, but he's 33 and I'm thinking more long-term with this selection.
I would end up taking Worilds. I like Brown and I know the Eagles wide receiver corps looks a little shaky right now but I also think that area has potential. Aside from Marcus Smith II, who looks like he will need some time to develop, I'm not sure I can say the same about the Eagles pass rusher position.
Who would you take?
