Eagles Training Camp Updates: Media kicker competition

Get ready for hilarity.

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles Training Camp 2014 continues today. The Eagles are holding their seventeenth training camp practice.

Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur (11 AM) and defensive coordinator Bill Davis (11:15 AM) are scheduled to speak before practice. Running back LeSean McCoy and wide receiver Jeremy Maclin will speak after practice.

As I noted yesterday, there's a bit of a change when it comes to restrictions at Eagles training camp. The media will only be permitted to watch the first 20 minutes of practice. What this means is that the media will only basically be allowed to watch the players warm up and go through some position drills. No more updates on 7-on-7 or 11-on-11 drills, which occur later in practice. Yes, this means that training camp practice notes and observations are essentially over.

Kicker competition

There is a special event taking place today after the team's practice, however. As you may have seem Philly.com's Jimmy Kempski mention, there will be a media kicker competition hosted by the Eagles and Santander Bank in order to raise some money for charity.

The grand prize winner who hits the longest field goal wins $2,500 for the charity of their choice. There will also be three runners-up who will win $500 each as well as a pair of Eagles tickets for their respective charities. Here are the OFFICIAL odds that Kempski put together were released by Las Vegas.

As you can see, I'm getting no respect. That's probably fair because I've never actually tried to kick a field goal before. Can I shock the world or will I fall flat on my face (literally)? Stay tuned for a CRUCIAL post-practice update on this competition.

As a reminder, here is the entire Eagles training camp schedule.
