Eagles Injury Update: LeSean McCoy misses practice, Riley Cooper returns, and much more

What's going on with the Eagles injury situation?

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly gave an update on the team's injury situation prior to training camp practice on Sunday, August 17th.

Returned to practice

WR Riley Cooper (foot)

Cooper is fully back. He's expecting to play in the team's dress rehearsal preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers this upcoming week.

CB Cary Williams (hamstring)

Williams left the Patriots game early after recording a pick-six from a Tom Brady pass on Friday (GIF) but is fully back now.

CB Nolan Carroll II (groin)

After practice Carroll II told the media he was full go in Sunday's practice and is targeting a return to game action on Thursday.

RB David Fluellen (calf)

Returned to practice on Sunday.

RB Matthew Tucker (hamstring)

Returned to practice on Sunday.

Did not practice

RB LeSean McCoy (?)

McCoy did not practice and he wouldn't talk to the media so... no one knows exactly what's going on with him. Jeff McLane did have this to say:

"Don't fret. A source close to LeSean McCoy said that he doesn't have anything serious. Probably just needed a health day."

WR Jeremy Maclin (hamstring)

Maclin sat out of Sunday's practice but is expected to be back full tomorrow on Monday, August 18th.

WR Josh Huff (shoulder)

Huff left the Patriots game early with a shoulder injury and did not return. Kelly revealed that Huff had an X-ray on his shoulder and the results came back negative, which is good news. Huff was seen wearing a sling at practice.

WR Brad Smith (?)

First day sitting out. Not clear why.

LB Bryan Braman (back)

Braman sat out of the Eagles/Patriots game despite not being listed on the injury report prior to the game. Kelly said Braman hurt his back during stretches last Friday and didn't play as a precautionary measure. Braman was out on Sunday as well.

ILB Jake Knott (hamstring)

Out since Friday, August 1st.

CB Jaylen Watkins (hamstring)

Out since Wednesday, August 13th.

RB Chris Polk (hamstring)

Out of practice since Monday, July 28th.

C Julian Vandervelde (back)

Out of practice since Monday, July 28th. Had back surgery last week.

The Eagles are still fortunate to not have had any season-ending injuries to this point*. At this date last year the team had already lost wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, linebacker Jason Phillips, wide receiver Arrelious Benn, and pass rusher Phillip Hunt to ACL injuries.
