It may be hard to believe but in only ONE WEEK from today, Friday, August 1st, 2014, the Philadelphia Eagles will be playing 'real', live, televised football for the first time since their 2013 season ended with a loss to the New Orleans Saints in the 2014 NFL playoffs.
The only catch is that it's preseason football. This obviously means that the starters won't be playing the whole game and the outcomes are meaningless. Still, it's a sign of how close the REAL games are and it's a good opportunity for certain players to win (or lose) roster spots. It's also a nice change of pace from the team's training camp schedule.
The Eagles are scheduled to take on the Chicago Bears in the Windy City at 8:00 PM EST. These two teams met at the end of last year in Week 16 of the regular season. As I'm sure you recall, the Eagles trounced the Bears (who could have clinched the NFC North with a win) by a score of 54-11.
This will be the only Eagles preseason game that WON'T be available live on NFL Network. That could be disappointing for fans that reside out of town. The game will air locally on 6ABC.
As a reminder, here is the entire Eagles 2014 preseason schedule.
