Fletcher Cox Perspective - Iggles Blitz
Something interesting occurred to me the other day when doing some research. Cox came into the league at a very young age. He is just 23 years old right now. He’ll turn 24 in December. Reggie White was 23 when he played his first season for the Eagles, back in 1985. White also had a December birthday (the 13th for Fletch and the 19th for Reggie). I’m not saying that Cox is going to be the next Reggie, but his best years are ahead of him. We really don’t know how good he will be. Reggie was lucky that he got to play in systems that fit his skills. That helped him to maximize his talents. Cox isn’t as lucky, but that doesn’t mean he can’t still be an impact player.
Week 8 Preview: A Budding Rivalry? - PE.com
Last season's tilt between former NFC East rivals was a memorable one that produced controversy, bad blood and a 24-21 Eagles victory in which they built up a 24-7 lead and held on at the end to thwart the Cardinals' comeback bid. Zach Ertz had five catches for 68 yards and two touchdowns, his first multi-touchdown game as a professional, in that game, while Nate Allen and Cary Williams had one interception apiece. The two teams won't have to wait long to renew hostilities, as the rematch is set for the 2014 season, this time at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Ariz.
Aaron Rodgers tops preseason list of NFL's best QBs - NFL.com
Borderline franchise: Alex Smith, Nick Foles, Andy Dalton, Carson Palmer, Ryan Tannehill, Josh McCown. Smith graduated from glorified game manager to playmaker down the stretch last season, but the Chiefs did nothing significant to help the offense during free agency and the draft. ... Foles' numbers are more impressive than his game tape. ... Dalton's surrounding talent makes him look better than he is; it should work the other way around. Entering a contract year, Dalton remains the prime meridian of NFL quarterbacks.
Tom Brady, Drew Brees among top 20 NFL players of the 2000s - NFL.com
7) Terrell Owens: Sure, he could be a distraction, but, oh, was T.O. a force. A five-time first-team All-Pro, Owens was a production machine, posting 1,000-yard seasons for three different clubs in the 2000s: the 49ers, Eagles and Cowboys. The chatty receiver recorded seven double-digit touchdown seasons in the '00s.
Mosher's Mailbag: Eagles solid at safety? - CSN Philly
Right now, the Eagles are solid at safety and deeper there than they’ve been in years. All the coaches and players seem very impressed with Malcolm Jenkins and the intangibles he brings. Earl Wolff mentioned that his morning film sessions with Jenkins have already helped him see the game from an entirely new level. Nate Allen played all 16 games last year for the first time in his career and he played very steadily, really rescuing his career after two years of major regression.
Ex-NFL players: Concussion settlement 'lousy deal' - Philly.com
Seven retired NFL players are objecting to a proposed settlement of concussion claims, calling it a "lousy deal" for ex-players whose symptoms don't qualify them for compensation.
5 to watch: Alex Henery - ESPN
Kicker Alex Henery will probably be back with the Eagles this season, but there was reason to wonder if the team would look hard for an alternative during the offseason.
Josh Gordon arrested in North Carolina for DWI - SB Nation
Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was arrested in Raleigh, North Carolina on the Fourth of July.
