Former Eagles players on NFL rosters

New, comments

Are you curious about where Derek Carrier currently plays or what Joe Mays is doing these days? Well, BGN has done the work so that you don't have to and compiled a list of former Eagles throughout the NFL.

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

The offseason is a time for reflection. The Eagles are currently taking part in OTAs, but since the media is only allowed a few visits to practice, there tends to be a lot of news silence around this time. For me, it has offered time to do research that I wouldn't normally do during the season or in the lead up to the draft. As an NFL observer, who enjoys following the careers of former Eagles, I decided to follow up the collection of AFL/CFL players with a look at the NFL.

There are 60 former Eagles scattered throughout the NFL. The AFC East has the most with 12 and the NFC West has the least with four. Andy Reid's Chiefs surprisingly only have one former Eagle, Joe Mays, who he got rid of after two seasons in Philadelphia. Reid is going against the grain of most seasoned head coaches with new stops by having few former players join him in Kansas City. He did have Akeem Jordan, Mardy Gilyard and Quintin Demps at certain points last season but that is still pretty low. If you consider the amount of former Titans that joined Jeff Fisher in St. Louis, you'll see there is a major disparity.

Another observation from the list is that the Jets, Giants and Redskins like adding former Eagles. This is likely due to the Jets playing the Eagles every preseason and having Marty Mornhinweg on the coaching staff. The Redskins and Giants play the Eagles twice a year, so it makes sense that they would want to add guys that they are familiar with in the division. Surprisingly, while the Eagles have added plenty of former Texans, Houston only has one player with a Philadelphia background on their roster.

Here is a list of the former Eagles on every NFL roster (as of June 6, 2014):
