The Madden NFL 2014 cover vote is finally over and the winner has been announced. Expect to see Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman on the next edition's cover. Sherman beat out fellow finalist and Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton to win the honor. Or he faces the "Madden Curse", if you believe in that kind of thing.
Sherman seems a little surprising of a choice considering he doesn't have the prestige of being a top pick or a glorified position such as quarterback. Then again, Sherman's popularity went through the roof after his infamous post-game rant after the 2014 NFC Championship Game. Oh and winning the Super Bowl didn't hurt either.
Two Philadelphia Eagles (LeSean McCoy and Nick Foles) were involved in the Madden cover vote competition but were eliminated in earlier rounds.
Here's a trailer for the game featuring Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly. Keep an eye out for the Darren Sproles cameo near the end!
