Reality Bites - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
In the football world, this is the time of the year to dream. Any team can win the Super Bowl. Any player can be a star. Any camp body can be the guy who shocks the world and makes the roster. Dream away.
Fan-Demonium: Time For Coaches To Shine - Tommy Lawlor, PE.com
The Eagles roster is fairly set. General manager Howie Roseman will constantly be on the lookout for players who can improve the team, but those changes tend to involve players at the bottom of the roster and not starters. The 2014 Eagles are going to win or lose based on the players on the team as of now. While the roster is mostly known, one of the unknown factors for the upcoming season is how the new players will perform. Think back to a year ago. Did you expect Cedric Thornton to be such an outstanding player? Did anyone think Riley Cooper would be such a productive receiver? Who expected Brandon Boykin to become such a big time playmaker? Who thought a journeyman player like Allen Barbre would turn out to be a good backup left tackle?
Chip Kelly Update: Murderleg, RC Cars, 3 Ducks and the Draft - Mark Saltveit, Fishduck
The long, slow, dull days of winter are over and Chip Kelly’s Eagles are crackling with activity. He drafted a solid if unflashy group of players (including Ducks Josh Huff and Taylor Hart), added a number of UDFAs (such as a savage-tackling kicker nicknamed "Murderleg") and wielded some innovative technologies that caused a stir around the league. Better yet, Chip’s long silence was washed away in a flood of comments, during seven separate press conferences during the draft process. Kelly spelled out what he looks for in players: toughness, versatility, intelligence, athleticism and true NFL size (especially height, arm length and hand size).
Eagles Should Consider Trading For Shea McClellin - Dave Stoessel, Eagles Addict
The Eagles could use another Outside Linebacker, Shea McClellin is a man without a position in Chicago and Howie Roseman loves to make deals. Seems like ripe conditions for an Eagles-Bears trade that could make sense for both sides.
Age and the NFL Draft - Chase Stuart, Football Perspective
Kelly’s quote has a certain air of truth to it, but is it verifiable? Do players with college degrees turn out to be better pros than players who don’t obtain their degrees? Unfortunately, I don’t have historical data on whether players graduated college before entering the pros. So this post can’t and won’t answer that question.
Jets fan pays $820 for 'Butt Fumble' jersey - Yahoo! Sports
A New York Jets fan in California paid $820 for the jersey quarterback Mark Sanchez wore during his infamous "Butt Fumble" play in 2012. Jake Hendrickson told Yahoo Sports on Saturday that he saw the jersey posted on the NFL auctions website last week and wanted to make sure he was the highest bidder for it.
NFL Quotable: Bruce Allen defends Redskins name ... again - James Brady, SB Nation NFL
"The Redskins team name continues to carry a deep and purposeful meaning."
