Madden NFL 15 Cover Vote: Eagles Eliminated from the Competition

No reason to worry about the "Madden Curse" at this point.

Brace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY Sport

The Madden 15 Cover Vote being held on ESPN.com is down to the semifinals and there are no Eagles players remaining. Philadelphia running back LeSean McCoy, who thoroughly beat out Indianapolis wide receiver T.Y. Hilton in the first round (77% to 23%), fell short to Colts quarterback Andrew Luck in Round 2. Luck edged out McCoy by a total of 8% of the votes (54% to 46%).

On one hand I'm a little surprised to see McCoy lose. He was the best running back in the NFL last season and he's certainly a fun player to use on Madden. Then again, this is all really just a popularity contest, and Luck has the prestige of being the former No. 1 overall pick. Plus, he's a quarterback, and so are two of the other four semifinalists. The only non-QB left in the cover vote is Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman. Sherman and Kaepernick will square off for one final spot while Cam Newton versus Luck will decide the other finalist.

Quarterback Nick Foles was the other Eagles player featured in this competition but he was eliminated in round one, despite his valiant efforts to drum up support from Eagles fans. Foles was edged out by the aforementioned Kaepernick (57% to 43%).

While I'm sure some would have enjoyed seeing an Eagles player on the cover, especially if they're going to make the purchase anyway, others will be glad the Eagles avoided the infamous "Madden Curse." (Even though it's not real. Probably.)
