The Philadelphia Eagles have signed 4th round draft pick defensive back Jaylen Watkins and 5th round pick defensive end Taylor Hart each to a four year deal. Watkins and Hart are the third and fourth of seven Eagles 2014 draft picks to sign their rookie contract.
Watkins/Hart and the Eagles agreed to terms so quickly because now that contracts are slotted, there isn't much negotiation room. Per OverTheCap, as the 101st pick, Watkins's contract is expected to total around $2.7 million. As the 141st pick, Hart's contract is expected to total around $2.4 million.
This deal ensures that Watkins and Hart will definitely be ready in time for Eagles training camp, which begins in late July. The Eagles have until then to get the rest of their remaining draft picks under contract in order for them to be eligible for practice.
Four picks down, three picks to go.
