Allen and the Eagles agreed to terms so quickly because now that contracts are slotted, there isn't much negotiation room. Per OverTheCap, as the 224th pick, Allen's contract is expected to total around $2.3 million.
Allen figures to be competing for backup job at nose tackle behind incumbent starter Bennie Logan. At 6-2, 333 lbs, Allen has great size.
This deal ensures that Allen will definitely be ready in time for Eagles training camp, which begins in late July. The Eagles have until then to get the rest of their remaining draft picks under contract in order for them to be eligible for practice.
A reminder that Eagles rookie minicamp begins tomorrow, Friday May 16th.
Two picks down, five picks to go.
