Jordan Matthews 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year Odds

Could it happen?

Andy Marlin-USA TODAY Sports

Along with the 2015 Super Bowl odds that Bovada released on Monday (Eagles ranked 9th), they also released a set of odds for the 2014 Offensive Rookie of the Year. It just so happens that the Eagles have one of the prime candidates on the list: second round draft pick wide receiver Jordan Matthews.

Matthews is tied for the 8th best OROY odds. Funny enough, those are the same chances listed for New York Giants first round draft pick Odell Beckham Jr. The difference is Beckham was drafted at No. 12 overall and Matthews came 30 picks last at No. 42. Only four other wide receivers were given better odds to win OROY than Matthews.

Chip Kelly said he expects Matthews to start in the slot for the Eagles. It remains to be see just how productive the Eagles wideout will be but if his college production is any indication (SEC all-time leader in yards and catches), Matthews should certainly be a favorite. He won't be the center of the Eagles' offense like he was at Vanderbilt but this could actually be a good thing for Matthews. There will be a plethora of other players to take the attention off of him. He will also have a major upgrade at quarterback. And let's not forget the Chip Kelly factor here.

As BGN's Brent Cohen reminds us, we shouldn't let the expectations for Matthews get too carried away. See this:
