NFL Schedule 2014: Ranking the Best and Worst Eagles Games

The entire 2014 NFL schedule was released on Wednesday night and the Philadelphia Eagles learned more than a quarter of their games will be featured in prime-time. See the complete Eagles schedule here. Read on for rankings of the best and worst weeks.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

1) Week 13 - @ Dallas Cowboys (Nov. 27, 4:30 PM, Fox)

Too easy. Thanksgiving Day. Turkey. Family. Friends. Football. I don't think it can get much better than playing your major division rival in prime time on one of the biggest days of the NFL season. The last time the Eagles and Cowboys met on Thanksgiving was 1989, in what's now known as the "Bounty Bowl". The Eagles won that game 27-0.

Last game: 2013 Week 17, Eagles win and clinch the NFC East, 24-22

2) Week 17 - @ New York Giants (Dec. 28, 1 PM, Fox)

Don't you just get the feeling the NFC East crown will be decided in this game just like it was with the Eagles and Cowboys last season? If not, I do. That's pretty cool, too, considering it's essentially an extra playoff game. Let's just hope it's nothing like the final game of Andy Reid's career as the Eagles' head coach (2012, Week 17, Eagles lost 42-7). Perhaps the script will be flipped and this time it will be Tom Coughlin's last game with the NYG.

Last game: 2013 Week 8, Eagles lose in a snore-fest, 15-7

3) Week 3 - Washington Redskins (Sept. 21, 1PM, Fox)

OK, so I'm kind of cheating here by ranking all of the divisional games first. But DeSean Jackson's return to Philadelphia as a Washington Redskin is too noteworthy to ignore. It'll be interesting to see the kind of reception he gets.

Last game: 2013 Week 11, Eagles win via Brandon Boyking game-sealing interception, 24-16

4) Week 2 - @ Indianapolis Colts (Sept. 15, 8:30 PM, ESPN)

The Eagles are featured in the second Monday Night Football game of the season against the Colts. It's the battle of the 2012 draft class quarterbacks: Andrew Luck and Nick Foles. Luck has more talent and prestige as the former No. 1 overall pick but the numbers are in favor of Foles. The last time the Eagles and Colts met was in 2010, and it was one of the most fun games I've watched in recent Eagles history. It's worth noting former Eagles executive Ryan Grigson is now the Colts' GM.

Last game: 2010 Week 9, Eagles win and beat Peyton Manning, 26-24

5) Week 14 - Seattle Seahawks (Dec. 7, 4:25 PM, Fox)

How will the Eagles fare against the defending Super Bowl champions? The Eagles' blistering offense versus the stout Seattle defense will be a must watch.

Last game: 2011 Week 13, Eagles lose with Vince Young at QB, 31-14

6) Week 6 - New York Giants (Oct. 12, 8:45 PM, NBC) *Sunday Night Football*

Eagles versus Giants on Sunday Night Football. What more do you want me to say?

7) Week 1 -  Jacksonville Jaguars (Sept. 7, 1 PM, CBS)

Seems like kind of a dud of a game, but hey, it's the Eagles home opener. It's Chip Kelly vs. the Gus Bus. The Eagles are already listed as 11 point favorites for this one.

Last game: 2010 Week 3, Eagles win, 28-3

8) Week 15 - Dallas Cowboys (Dec. 14, 8:30 PM, NBC) *Sunday Night Football*

A rematch only two weeks after the Eagles-Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game.

9) Week 11 - @ Green Bay Packers (Nov. 16., 1 PM, Fox)

A revenge game of sorts for Green Bay. The Aaron Rodgers Packers are sure going to be a hell of a lot tougher than the Scott Tolzien Packers.

Last game: 2013 Week 10, Eagles win, 27-13

10) Week 8 - @ Arizona Cardinals (Oct. 26, 4:05 PM, Fox)

Remember how Bruce Arians complained about the officiating after the Eagles beat the Cardinals last season? I'm sure the Eagles wouldn't mind proving they can beat them again. The Eagles are coming off their own bye for this game.

Last game: 2013 Week 13, Eagles win, 24-21

11) Week 10 - Carolina Panthers (Nov. 10, 8:30 PM, ESPN)

The Eagles' second Monday Night Football game of the year. Two former Eagles return to town: defensive coordinator Sean McDermott and wide receiver Jason Avant. As it stands, the Panthers barely have any talent at receiver. I have to imagine that is music to the ears of Eagles secondary members.

Last game: 2012 Week 12, Eagles lose, 30-22

12) Week 4 - @ San Francisco 49ers (Sept. 28, 4:25 PM, Fox)

This will be the Eagles' toughest test early on. The 49ers are pretty darn good and the game is in San Francisco. Hard to feel real good about this one. The Chip Kelly (Oregon) versus Jim Harbaugh (Stanford) former-Pac-12-coaches dynamic seems fun.

Last game: 2011 Week 4, Eagles lose, 24-23

13) Week 5 - St. Louis Rams (Oct. 5, 1 PM, Fox)

The Rams were the best team to finish worst in their division last season. That defense is scary but I'm not sure what the point of Sam Bradford is. This is the only game on the Eagles' schedule where they have to face a team coming off their bye.

Last game: 2011 Week 1, Eagles win, 31-13

14) Week 16 - @ Washington Redskins (Saturday Dec. 20, 4:30 PM, NFL Network)

At this point in the year the DeSean angle will have already been played out (who am I kidding?) and the game is in Washington anyway. Will the LolSkins still even be competitive at this point in the season?

15) Week 7 - BYE (Oct. 19)

Not much to say about the bye week. I don't hate the timing of it, so I guess that's something.

16) Week 9 - @ Houston Texans (Nov. 2, 1:00 PM, Fox)

The Texans were surprisingly the worst team in football last season. They won two games and both of those results required major comeback efforts. Gary Kubiak was fired and now former Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien is in charge. Matt Schaub is also gone and the Texans don't have a real answer at QB on the roster. Houston could fix that with the first overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. This Eagles/Texans meeting will be the fourth time these two teams have ever met.

Last game: 2010 Week 13, Eagles win, 34-24

17) Week 12 - Tennessee Titans (Nov. 23, 1 PM, CBS)

This game feels kind of random. I don't see much intrigue here. I guess it could pose as a trap game given it is sandwiched between the Packers at Lambeau and the Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

Last game: 2010 Week 7, Eagles lose in "the Kenny Britt game", 37-19
