With only hours remaining until the official release of the 2014 NFL schedule, the leaks are already starting to emerge. WFAN Sports Radio has leaked the New York Giants' schedule and this is interesting because they obviously play the Philadelphia Eagles twice a year. Here is what's being reported via CBS New York:
Week 6: Sunday, Oct. 12, at Philadelphia — 8:30 p.m.
Week 17: Sunday, Dec. 28, vs. Philadelphia
Well doesn't that look fun. The Giants are arguably the Eagles' stiffest competition as Philadelphia tries to defend their 2013 NFC East division crown. It's way too early to say for sure, but you can't help wonder if that season finale could determine the division winners just like it did for the Eagles last season.
It's also interesting to hear the October 12th game will be on Sunday Night Football. If true, that means the Eagles are guaranteed at least one prime-time showing. That also means that Brandon Boykin, the one true best slot cornerback in the NFL, will get to prove Walter Thurmond wrong in front of a national audience.
That's it for now. Once again, the official release of the 2014 NFL schedule will take place later tonight at 8 PM EST on NFL.com, NFL Network, and ESPN2. Stay tuned to BGN for full coverage of the event.
[Note by Brandon Lee Gowton, 04/23/14 5:37 PM EDT] It was originally reported that the Eagles would be playing on the road on Week 6 and at home on Week 17. It looks like that has since been reversed: the Eagles play at home during Week 6 (SNF game) and on the road to close the season for Week 17.
