Flexible scheduling: The NFL also announced flex scheduling can now occur as soon as Week 5. It used to be that Week 11 was the earliest time games could be flexed to NBC's Sunday Night Football. It's worth noting that the NFL is only allowed to flex no more than two games between Weeks 5 and 10.

The NFL schedule follows a set pattern each year so we already have an idea of who the Eagles will play in future seasons. Six of the Eagles' sixteen opponents will always be their NFC East rivals: the Cowboys, Giants, and Redskins. The Eagles will also play the entirety of one of the NFC Divisions. The tough NFC West is in rotation for 2014, featuring the Super Bowl champion Seahawks, 49ers, Cardinals, and Rams.

Another four games will come against an AFC Division. This year, the Eagles will face the AFC South: the Colts, Titans, Jaguars, and Texans. That division was the worst in all of football last season (see: combined point differential of -317). The remaining two games come against NFC teams that finish in the same spot in the divisional standings as the Eagles. Since the Eagles won their division in 2013, they will play the NFC North champion Packers and NFC South champion Panthers.

If the formulaic schedule doesn't change, this is what the Eagles' future opponents will look like:

2015: NFC South, AFC East, NFC West and North divisional finish, NFC East

2016: NFC North, AFC North, NFC West and South divisional finish, NFC East

2017: NFC West, AFC West, NFC North and South divisional finish, NFC East

Eagles 2013 preseason schedule:

Week 1 - @ Chicago Bears (Friday, August 8th, 8 PM, 6ABC)
Week 2 - @ New England Patriots (Friday, August 15th, 7:30 PM, 6ABC)
Week 3  - Pittsburgh Steelers (Thursday, August 21st, 7:30 PM, 6ABC)
Week 4 - New York Jets (Thursday, August 28th, 7 PM, 6ABC)
