Eric Ebron, TE, North Carolina

Eric Ebron is easily the best tight end in this draft class and would be a perfect addition to the Giants' offense. The only real receiving weapon the Giants have on their roster right now is Victor Cruz. Rueben Randle and Jerrel Jernigan are promising players but neither has proven that they can be a consistent receiving threat. Ebron would instantly come into the offense and give Eli Manning a weapon at tight end that he hasn't had since Jeremy Shockey was in town.
Except Ebron has potential to be a much better and more versatile player than Shockey ever was. He would be a dangerous weapon in the Giants’ new offensive scheme under recently hired offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo. I’m sure McAdoo will have Ebron line-up all over the field for the Giants and create mismatches everywhere possible. He has great size at 6’4", 250 lbs. and has experience lining up on the outside, in the slot and in-line from his days at North Carolina. Combine that with his 4.60 fourty yard dash time and 32" vertical and it’s hard not to fall in love with Ebron’s potential.
Although most of the "similar players" for Ebron’s spider graph aren’t the greatest players ever, Kellen Winslow and Todd Heap stand out among the others. If Ebron can live up to either of those player’s careers, especially Heap, then the Giants will be in good shape going forward.
Ebron isn’t without his weaknesses though; he does struggle in some areas. For example, he really struggles to block practically anyone. But that could be improved with coaching at the next level. He also doesn’t have the ideal size for the position and could afford to put on some more weight and bulk to deal with NFL-sized defenders, especially if he lines up in-line. The last problem he has is he’s a bit too inconsistent and can sometimes lose concentration and drop a fairly easy catch.
All that being said, I believe Ebron has the potential to be a Pro Bowl caliber tight end, and although it would suck for that to happen in New York, it would be the right pick for the team. To cap it all off, enjoy some of these GIF’s of Ebron making some spectacular catches!
