Eagles 'Comeback Player of the Year' consideration should go to long snapper Jon Dorenbos - JimmyK, Philly.com
In 2013, the Eagles punting units, led by the great Donnie Jones and gunner Brandon Boykin, were monumentally improved. Credit should also go to Dorenbos, who bounced back from a bad 2012 season, and was nearly perfect last season. In 2013, the Eagles punted 81 times. By my count, Dorenbos had just 5 off target long snaps on punts, and many of them are nit-picky.
Misc Draft Talk - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
Martin would be a terrific 4-3 DE, but I just don’t see an OLB. I see a guy that has great size. I see a good motor. He will chase the ball and make his share of pursuit plays. I see good athleticism, but nothing special. I don’t see a player that looks great up on his feet. I don’t see a special pass rusher. If you want a 4-3 DE with terrific length and who moves pretty well, this is your guy. I just don’t see an OLB.
Ranking the Almost Dynasties, Part II - Chase Stuart, Football Perspective
In fact, the Eagles now become the only team that won nothing and still mounted a real challenge for the top spot in expected wins in a decade. With DVOA, Philadelphia’s consistent excellence gave them a 72% chance of winning at least one title in the decade, along with a 32% chance of multiple titles. The 2000s Eagles, according to DVOA, are the best team to win no championships in a decade in the post-merger NFL.
Jeremiah Compares Mosley To DeMeco - Tim McManus, Birds 24/7
Former Eagles scout Daniel Jeremiah, now an analyst for the NFL Network, took part in a conference call alongside Charles Davis Thursday. Several Philly-related angles were explored. One topic of conversation was Alabama linebacker C.J. Mosley, who some see as a fit for the Birds at 22. Interestingly enough, Jeremiah compared Mosley to a current Eagles ‘backer. "I think he’s very good in coverage. I think he’s an excellent blitzer. But the most impressive aspect of his game is his instincts. I remember scouting DeMeco Ryans at Alabama, and that’s what set him apart was his instincts. I personally think he’s a better player than DeMeco was coming out, and DeMeco has had a nice career. I think he’s one of those guys that could play in either defense; ideally for me I’d like to see him as a Mike in a 4-3."
Buying the perfect NFL team, 2014 edition - Mark Sandritter, SB Nation NFL
Draft picks are unpredictable and take time to develop. Why bother building a team that way when you can spend big on free agents? Mark Sandritter takes on an experiment in roster building, with surprising results.
