2014 NFL Mock Draft: Teddy Bridgewater to the Houston Texans is the No. 1 Pick

Ed. Note: While I can assure you Imp made this pick for the Texans, something occurred where he couldn't get his explanation to me. I'll do my best to reason through his pick.

The Houston Texans were just downright terrible in 2013 despite coming off two consecutive seasons with playoff appearances. The Texans were lucky to even win two games. Both of those victories featured significant comeback efforts It gets even worse when you consider Houston played in the worst division in the entire NFL.

The biggest reason behind the Texans' failure was the decline of quarterback Matt Schaub. Schaub's 14 interceptions were the second most he's ever thrown in a single season. Schaub was essentially benched in favor of Case Keenum. Keenum threw 9 TD and 6 INT in 8 starts, all of which were losses. Schaub was traded to the Raiders in the offseason and the Texans signed Ryan Fitzpatrick to a 2-year, $7.5 million contract. While Fitzpatrick may provide Houston with a stop-gap option, he's certainly not their future.

Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater is the long-term answer the Texans need. Ignore the fact that media members seem down on him and that mock drafts have him falling into the 20s. That's simply a case of teams hoping the Louisville signal caller will fall to them. Bridgewater is still the best QB in this draft class. He had a very successful college career and he has the physical talent to make it in the NFL. New Texans head coach Bill O'Brien gets "his" guy here.
