Six Eagles draft day trade down scenarios - JimmyK, Philly.com
The Eagles only have 6 draft picks this year, after trading their 5th round pick for Darren Sproles. They have not made fewer than 8 picks in any draft since 2003, and this year's crop of players is considered to be the among the deepest in NFL history. The Eagles would love to get their hands on more picks, and trading down is typically the easiest way to do that. Using the draft value chart, here are 6 teams who would make sense for the Eagles to partner with to gain extra picks. Note: Because it's such a deep draft and teams will be less likely to give up picks than in typical drafts, I erred on the side of favoring the other team in most cases.
Will Clarke - Tommy Lawlor, Iggles Blitz
The idea of drafting Will Clarke to be the ROLB is growing on me. Clarke was a DE/DT for West Virginia. That makes sense for a guy who is 6-6, 271. Clarke flashed at both the Shrine Game and Senior Bowl, but I was stuck on the idea of him as a DE, even in the 3-4. I didn’t like him as a fit for the Eagles. Moving him to LB is a different story. I hadn’t even considered the idea until I read Tony Pauline’s report that the Eagles worked him out as a LB. Here is the workout, which was run by Eagles OLB coach Bill McGovern. (Clarke is the tall guy with long hair)
Wake-Up Call: Jordan And the OLB Spot | Birds 24/7
It does not appear Brandon Graham is the answer. As we've discussed previously, the Eagles recognize at this point that he is best suited for a 4-3 and are open to moving him if the price is right.
Baldinger: Eagles Poised For Another Run - PE.com
NFL Network analyst Brian Baldinger joined us in the Xfinity Studio to talk about why he says the Eagles' off-season moves have them positioned to capture the NFC East crown for a second straight year ...
Geoff Mosher's Eagles mock draft 1.0 - CSN Philly
Round 1, pick 22: Ryan Shazier, LB, Ohio State (6-1, 237)
The Eagles aren’t just drafting for 2014 but also building for the future and projecting three years down the road. Shazier has the athleticism and explosion coveted by NFL coaches but needs to add some weight and find where he best fits. He’s a little short for outside linebacker standards and light by inside standards. Chip Kelly is big on versatility and needs a dose of explosion in his aging linebacker corps. This is probably the last go-round for DeMeco Ryans and Trent Cole. Kelly and Davis will find where Shazier can best impact the defense in Year 1, then groom him to eventually take over on the inside or outside.
Temple's beef with Eagles a ploy? - Bob Ford, Inquirer
The public relations tour of Temple president Neil D. Theobald, which has been a train wreck in the last four months as the school clumsily dismantled some of its core varsity sports programs, took another wide turn last week when Theobald essentially accused the Eagles of extortion during lease negotiations between the school and its football stadium landlord.
The Notebook: Deciphering Taylor Lewan - Stephen White, SB Nation NFL
How does the Michigan offensive tackle compare to the others in the 2014 NFL Draft? Retired NFL defensive end Stephen White peels back the curtain for a closer look at Taylor Lewan.
