The San Francisco 49ers just can't stay out of the headlines. That's typically not a place where you want to be during the NFL offseason. Now just a few days after Niners quarterback Colin Kaepernick was being investigated for a "supicious incident", 49ers star outside linebacker Aldon Smith has been arrested at Los Angeles International Airport. As for the reasoning behind Smith's arrest:
LAX police say Aldon Smith was booked on charges of "False report of a bomb threat." He allegedly made comment while going thru screening.

Yikes. Not a very smart decision. A false report of a bomb threat is punishable by up to a year in prison. This isn't the first time Smith has been in legal trouble, either. For more on that and entire coverage of this Smith story, including a video of the LAPD detaining Smith, check out Niners Nation.
As far as how this relates to the Eagles, it's worth noting that Philadelphia will meet up with the 49ers in San Francisco this coming season. It's also an opportunity to realize why the Eagles are so big on acquiring high character players. No NFL locker room will ever be comprised solely of choir boys, but finding the right balance of talent and character is crucial. The Eagles have made a conscious effort in recent years to bring in high character players while jettisoning some of the more troublesome talents.
