Shortly after the Philadelphia Eagles released wide receiver DeSean Jackson, Bleeding Green Nation ran a poll to gauge fan approval of the move. Now that everyone has had plenty of time to vote and weigh in, let's take a look at the results:
As you can see, the reaction is pretty evenly split, save for a slight edge to those in support of Jackson's release. I have to admit that the numbers surprised me. I expected a lot more disapproval.
The fact that the Eagles still have not officially commented on Jackson's release has deterred some fans from voting. We still don't know the exact reasons as to why Jackson was released. Media rumblings indicate that the decision was based on a numbers of reasons... including off the field concerns and how Jackson fell out of favor with Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. But without the precise reasons known, it's still a bit of a guessing game.
Still, Eagles fans are allowed to have an opinion. And what they can base their voting off of is how much they currently believe in the Eagles' organization. Many have argued that the Eagles wouldn't have cut Jackson without good reason. Others aren't so forgiving and have suggested the Eagles are making a major, unforgivable mistake. Either way, it's all about trust.
Where the Eagles truly made the right decision or not will continued to be debated for a long time. For now, the reaction is split. It will be interesting to see how these poll results change over time.
