SB Nation's Mocking the Draft released their latest 2014 NFL Mock Draftt on Monday. This is a mock that only goes one round deep. It's also the first mock after the first week of NFL free agency. The signings teams have made have the potential to affect who they will take in the draft. Let's see who MTD has the Eagles taking this time around:
22. Philadelphia Eagles - Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State
Although the Eagles signed Nolan Carroll in free agency, that move shouldn't stop them from taking a cornerback in the first round. Dennard is a physical press corner, capable of manning up against bigger receivers.
Other options: DT Louis Nix, S Calvin Pryor, S Jimmie Ward
The Eagles added Nolan Carroll in free agency to compete for a starting job with returning cornerbacks Cary Williams and Bradley Fletcher. These players are solid starters for now but not exactly the best long-term options. Adding a cornerback in the draft would make sense, and Dennard is ranked at the top of his position. Mike Mayock ranked Dennard as his No. 1 overall cornerback in the 2014 NFL draft class.
How do you feel about this pick? Were there better options available?
