The Joe Anderson era is officially over in Philadelphia.
#Eagles have released WR Joe Anderson
— Philadelphia Eagles (@Eagles) March 14, 2014
Considering he only signed with the team two months ago on February 7th, it never really began. Here's what I wrote about Anderson at the time.
Anderson, listed at 6-1, 196 lbs, signed with Chicago as an undrafted free agent in 2012. Anderson was placed on the Bears injured reserve list in November of the 2013 season. Shortly after, he was waived/injured.
Anderson is most notably a special teams player. He's only amounted to a career total of 15 snaps on offense in 9 games played. Anderson's special teams stats include: 3 special teams tackles, 1 assisted, and 1 forced fumble. He also returned 5 kickoffs in 2013 for 82 yards (16.4 avg) and a long of 21.
As the great Jimmy Kempski wisely points out, Anderson is a prime candidate for least remembered Eagles player ever.
Anderson's release means the Eagles have a total of 10 receivers on the team (11, if you count Sproles as a pass catcher). Can you name all of them without looking it up?
