The Eagles announced the second phase of the Lincoln Financial Field stadium revitalization project on Thursday morning. Approximately 1,600 new seats will be added, which raises the stadium capacity to just over 69,000. The added seating will be in the northwest and southwest corners of the stadium. Seats will be added on all levels.
"For the first time since we opened Lincoln Financial Field in 2003, we have an opportunity to add seats," said Eagles President Don Smolenski. "We’re excited to be able to add new fans to the Eagles family." "Over the years we have received a number of requests from our season ticket members to purchase seat licenses, relocate their seats, or purchase additional tickets," added Smolenski. "By adding new seats to our stadium, there are opportunities to fulfill some of these requests. Our ticket office will be managing this process over the next few months and we will be fair and flexible throughout the process."
Along with the addition of new seating, the Eagles announced a raise in ticket prices. This is the second straight year the Eagles have raised ticket prices. Ticket praises for 52% of the seats will be raised, 43% will remain the same, and 5% will decrease. Midfield lower-level seats will go from $105 to $130. Lower-level sideline will increase from $105 to $115. Lower-level end zone from $95 to $105. Some of the upper-level seating will drop from $105 to $85. The majority of the upper-level seating remains the same at $75. Even with this raise, the Eagles still have the least expensive ticket prices in the NFC East.
"With seats being added and the structure of our seating bowl changing, we took a step back and reviewed how the building was priced," said Smolenski. "We decided to adjust the prices in certain sections to more accurately reflect their value and popularity compared to other sections around the stadium."
The two-year stadium revitalization project at The Linc is scheduled to be complete by August. Last week, the Eagles announced the addition of brand new high-clarity, massive video boards. The Eagles' revitalization efforts are believed to be the byproduct of an attempt to make a future Super Bowl bid.
