The news just keeps coming.
According to reports from multiple outlets, the Eagles are talking with pending free agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin and making progress towards a new deal. Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reported it first.
All signs this offseason have been pointing to a Maclin return. In early January, Jayson Ashworth of 97.5 The Fanatic reported Maclin would re-sign. Later that month, John Barchard of BGN Radio had a similar report. Then there's the fact Maclin has spent the entire offseason in Philadelphia rehabbing with the Eagles.
Last week, Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported that the Eagles favored Maclin over fellow pending free agent wide receiver Riley Cooper. Given today's news that the Eagles are close to re-signing Cooper, it appears the team values both receivers. In McLane's report on Cooper, he mentions the Eagles are still expected to sign Maclin to a one-year "prove it" deal.
Bringing back Maclin into the fold could make an Eagles offense that excelled in 2013 even better. Given Maclin's skills and age (25), it's no surprise the Eagles have interest in bringing him back.
It appears Maclin wasn't just teasing when he tweeted this last month...
Stay tuned y'all.....
