Three free agents the Eagles could consider - JimmyK, Philly.com
Marcus Benard, OLB, Cardinals (6'2, 256) - In four seasons with the Browns and Cardinals, Benard has registered a sack every 32.2 times he has had an opportunity to rush the passer, which is outstanding. In addition to his 3.5 sacks in 2013, Benard also knocked the QB down 10 times, according to ProFootballFocus. That was tied for 8th in the league among 3-4 OLBs, which is extra impressive considering the low number of opportunities Benard received.

Interesting Cap Casualty? - Tommy Lawlor, EaglesBlog
A few years back, James Harrison and LaMarr Woodley were a dynamic set of 3-4 OLBs. Harrison is now in Cincy and the Steelers might think about cutting Woodley. Steelers beat writer Ed Bouchette thinks that would be the prudent move.

Stretch Run In '13 Pays Off Now - Dave Spadaro, PE.com
It's one of the defining impacts a new head coach has, and very quickly Chip Kelly made his mark: A locker room mired in losing for two seasons turned it all around in 2013, a culture that permeates the team now ...

Eagles Draft Target: DT Ra’Shede Hageman - Chris Steuber, CSN Philly
The Eagles' defensive front was a strong point this past season, and this promising young group led by the emergence of Fletcher Cox, Cedric Thornton and Bennie Logan will only get better. Selecting a defensive lineman with the 22nd pick isn’t a high priority, but adding more depth off the edge or a bigger, stronger interior force at nose tackle would provide defensive coordinator Billy Davis with more options, and Hageman is a name to keep an eye on.

American football could be Olympic sport by 2024
American football could be the newest sport added to the Olympics, giving the United States a potentially easy path to a gold medal every four years. The International Olympic Committee gave provisional recognition to The International Federation of American Football on Tuesday, setting up a vote on whether the sport should be added to the events list, via FoxSports.

The NFL's Wake-up Calls - Peter King, The MMQB
"Commissioner,’’ highly respected Philadelphia wide receiver Jason Avant told Goodell in a recent meeting, "we need you to set standards. We need you to make it black and white. We need standards, and if we don’t meet them, we shouldn’t be here." In the past 60 days, Goodell, I’m told, has met with more than 30 players, asking them how to make the locker room a more tolerant, more professional place. Players like Avant have told Goodell what he needs to hear. (He confirmed to me Sunday night that he asked Goodell to set standards for the players in the league, so publicly they’re not all painted with the Incognito brush.)
