Earl Thomas leaves Philadelphia wearing an Eagles jersey

Not quite what you may have imagined.

Philadelphia Eagles fans finally had the chance to see what Earl Thomas would look like in their favorite team's jersey. Following the Seattle Seahawk's 24-14 victory over Philadelphia on Sunday, Thomas exchanged uniforms with Eagles backup safety and special teams player Chris Maragos.

Thomas and Maragos know each other from their time together spent in Seattle from 2011-2013. Maragos signed with the Eagles in free agency during the 2014 offseason.

Players from opposing teams exchanging jerseys after games is hardly a new tradition (and hardly unique to American football). It's a sign of respect. In this case it's cool to see a big name player like Thomas pay tribute to his lesser heralded friend.

For Eagles fans, seeing Thomas in an Eagles jersey may draw some frustration. As seen last week, fans still complain about how the team had an opportunity to draft him in 2010 but selected Brandon Graham instead.

Funny enough, Thomas was actually responsible for allowing one of the two touchdowns that Philadelphia scored on Sunday. The play occurred early in the game when the Eagles were in the red zone. Jeremy Maclin was matched up one-on-one against Richard Sherman before running in motion to the left side of the field. Sherman stayed in place while Thomas hesitated to switch over to the uncovered Eagles receiver. Maclin scored an easy touchdown on the play.

Still, there's no denying the Eagles secondary could use an upgrade. Even Malcolm Jenkins, who has played well for Philadelphia this season, struggled against Seattle.

But while the Eagles certainly need help on the back end, their loss to Seattle also illustrated their need for a better quarterback. It's too bad for Philadelphia that they also missed out on the quarterback that beat them on Sunday.
