Where do the Eagles Fit in the Big Picture? - Iggles Blitz
Prior to the season, I didn’t see the Eagles as title contenders. I didn’t think the STs unit would be nearly this good and I just felt the team was a year away. I thought Chip and Howie needed one more year of roster building to get the right guys. But because this is such an odd year, maybe the Eagles are legit title contenders, even with their issues. I think the next couple of weeks will tell us a lot. Seattle isn’t a great road team, but they are healthy and playing their best football of the year. This will be a huge test for the Eagles. Then you get Dallas on 10 days of rest. And the Boys are a terrific road team so playing in Philly might bring out the best in them.
Billy's Scheme is Working - ChipWagon
Back in the summer I wrote a lengthy post about the Eagles pass rush. Much to the chagrin of most Eagles fans the Eagles were unable to acquire a dominant edge rusher in the offseason. The pass rush was a concern for a big portion of the season and the age of Trent Cole and the apparent miscasting of Vinny Curry and Brandon Graham in a 3-4 had them as frequent subjects of trade talks. How could Chip and Howie not do whatever it takes to acquire that elite edge rusher? Quite possibly, because Billy Davis felt he had the pieces to make his scheme work.
All-22: Option Football With Sanchez - Birds 24/7
There's no doubt that the offensive line is playing better, and McCoy is helped by the fact that the Eagles will start the same five guys in front of him for the third game in a row Sunday. But it's also worth noting that Tennessee and Dallas rank 30th and 24th against the run, according to Football Outsiders. For all the talk about Seattle's secondary, the Seahawks rank fifth against the run. If the Eagles can get McCoy going vs. Pete Carroll's squad, it'll be a strong indication that this could be an offense that's finally clicking on all cylinders.
Domo's Eagles-Seahawks scouting report - Daily News
The Seahawks’ running game isn’t just about Lynch. It’s also about QB Russell Wilson, who is 15th in the league in rushing with 679 yards, split almost 50-50 between zone-read runs and pass-play scrambles. Wilson, who is averaging 7.5 yards per carry, is ninth in the league in rushing first downs (39) and first in third-down rushing (210 yards on 21 carries). The Eagles’ run defense has been very good. It held NFL rushing leader DeMarco Murray to a season-low 73 yards last week.
Eagles' Graham is out to prove doubters wrong - Inquirer
Two years ago, Brandon Graham dreaded the questions. Graham knew that when the Eagles played the Seattle Seahawks and safety Earl Thomas, he would hear questions about whether he was a draft bust. Graham, the Eagles' first-round pick in 2010, still hears from fans who wish the team selected Thomas when they traded up to the No. 13 overall pick. Considering that Thomas is a three-time all-pro and Graham has 17 career sacks, that is a reasonable opinion.
Chip Kelly has big fan in Seahawks' Pete Carroll - CSN Philly
They both came directly from college, directly from the Pac 12 to the NFL, and turned around struggling franchises by building one side of the football into one of the best in the game. Pete Carroll won the Super Bowl in his fourth year with the Seahawks with a legendary defense, and Chip Kelly has won 19 of 28 games so far with the Eagles, who are on the brink of a second straight playoff berth thanks to a groundbreaking offense. Carroll and Kelly meet Sunday for the first time in five years, when the Eagles and Seahawks face each other in a huge battle of NFC frontrunners at the Linc.
Eagles' Marcus Smith's frustration increases after riding the bench against Dallas Cowboys - NJ.com
"Coaches probably don't feel as comfortable as they would want," Smith said. "Each and every week I try to make it so they are comfortable and can put me out there. Most of the time I'm in passing situations, so for them to put me out there in the run game, they have to feel more comfortable."
