In a bit of a surprising move, the Eagles officially "parted ways" with Tom Gamble on Wednesday afternoon. I put "parted ways" in quotes because Chris Mortensen reported that it was more of a firing than anything else.
My reaction to the Gamble firing can be found here. Here is the reaction from other media members. As you can gather, there is a common theme.
Gamble came here from SF at least in part because of his father Harry’s illness. Harry has since passed away. But this is still a surprise.

Gamble was hired in '13 after C. Kelly came on board. The 2 had a strong relationship-- Gamble and Kelly spent cutdown day together scouting

Howie 1, Chip 0.

The names always seem to change (except Howie Roseman's) but front office drama remains a constant with the Eagles.

My column 2 days ago on Chip Kelly basically calling Howie Roseman a cap guy while calling Tom Gamble a football guy: http://t.co/sSl5c05TA5

Jeffrey Lurie backed Howie Roseman big time after the season finale. Sounds like another power struggle win for Howie.

The following two tweets are comments from former Eagles pro scout Louis Riddick:
Philly "parting ways" with Gamble now? The pattern continues. #SMH

If you can't see what is really going on there, then....

Chip was very close with Gamble. The two main scouting trips together last season and have known each other since New Hampshire. #Eagles

If Howie Roseman's power in the Eagles' front office wasn't clear, it should be clear now.
— Zach Berman (@ZBerm) December 31, 2014
The #Eagles' balance of power over player acquisition shifts back to Howie Roseman. Chip Kelly was given last offseason and team regressed.

All this "power struggle" talk could end up being true, but right now it’s tea-leaf reading, spun out of a couple of open-ended quotes...
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) December 31, 2014
SOMETHING out of the ordinary happened here, though, and we’re all working hard to figure out what. Haven’t been able to reach Gamble...
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) December 31, 2014
Worth noting now that when speaking to media in NY last wk, Lurie mentioned Chip, Howie and Smolenski. Not Gamble. #Eagles

Kelly, cont.: "...because he has been on your campus looking at players for a long, long time." ...Relationship dates back to Kelly at UNH

Without taking sides here, sure is a list of guys who have been perceived as threats to Howie Roseman's tenure who have been heaved out door
— Les Bowen (@LesBowen) December 31, 2014
Enough already with Roseman's 2012 draft. Andy was still in charge then and made every pick. #eagles

#Eagles fire Tom Gamble. What does it mean? http://t.co/hQSirmMw0J
— Phil Sheridan (@SheridanScribe) December 31, 2014
Didn't get a sense Monday that Chip and Howie were buds when Chip was asked his relationship with Roseman, he said simply: "good." #Eagles
— Ed Kracz (@kracze) December 31, 2014
Also on Monday, Chip basically called Howie a capologist/contract guy and called Gamble a "heckuva a football guy" #Eagles
— Ed Kracz (@kracze) December 31, 2014
Only Roseman was quoted on the release sent out by #Eagles announcing Gamble's departure. No comment from Chip.
— Ed Kracz (@kracze) December 31, 2014
#Eagles had no further comment. Requests to question Jeff Lurie, Chip Kelly and Howie Roseman were declined. No comment yet from Tom Gamble.

Tom Gamble's departure signals front office discord for Eagles -- again. What's it mean for Chip Kelly? My story: http://t.co/VFkC0cenMa
