Eagles were the one team the Seahawks didn't want to play in the 2014 NFL Playoffs - BGN
"The Eagles. The Eagles, for sure. That was the one team we didn't want to play. We were always talking in the locker room and we felt like, man, they're young, they're hungry, they're coming on strong with what they're doing... It was one of those deals where we were like that's a team that, you know, it's one of those trap teams that sneak up on you and do some great things. They're young, talented, aggressive, and one of the teams that we thought were really dangerous."
Better Defense - Iggles Blitz
If you’re an Eagles fan, you like defense. From Chuck Bednarik to Bill Bergey to Reggie White to Brian Dawkins to Trent Cole…there have been defensive stars for every generation. The Eagles haven’t always been pretty on offense, but you could usually count on tough defense. Things were far from great in 2013. The Eagles were 29th in yards allowed. They did finish 17th in points allowed, but that’s hardly reason to set down your PBRs and start high-fiving Bill Davis. Still, I’ve written a few times about how the Eagles defense would need to be judged differently in the Chip Kelly era. Due to the up-tempo offense, the defense would be facing more plays than ever.
Behind Enemy Lines- Defending the Read Option - ChipWagon
Yesterday I covered one of the strengths of the Seattle Seahawks offense, the read-option. They have been running it better than anyone in the NFL this year thanks to the excellent mobility of Russell Wilson and the power running of Marshawn Lynch. Of course the Eagles are not strangers to the read-option. They train against it every day in practice however Kelly suggested in his press conference yesterday that they have no one to simulate what they will face against Wilson and Lynch. That being said, Billy Davis' defense has had a fair amount of experience against the read option in the last 2 seasons against the likes of RGIII, Terrelle Pryor, Cam Newton. By and large they have faired really well thanks to good discipline and game planning along with excellent play from the defensive line. Let's have a look.
Graham Finding Success, Blocking Out Noise - Birds 24/7
Brandon Graham has tried to block out the noise. During his five-year career, he’s pretty much heard it all. That he’s a bust. That the Eagles would be better off with someone else. That they should have never taken him with the 13th overall pick in the 2010 draft. "People were... saying little stuff," Graham said. "They used to be like, ‘Jason Pierre-Paul is better than you.’ Now they saying he ain’t. Now they’re like, ‘Oh man, we should have got Earl Thomas.’ Hopefully I can change all that."
Eagles scored big with Sanchez and good group of free agents - Inquirer
The Eagles' most important free-agent signing in the offseason was second-page news on the day he signed. Mark Sanchez's one-year contract with the Eagles had already been reported by the time the team officially announced it on March 28. His arrival as the backup quarterback to Nick Foles received a fair amount of attention considering Sanchez's history, but not long after his news conference later that morning it became an afterthought.
Eagles' plan for Seahawks? Challenge Richard Sherman - CSN Philly
He’s the best cornerback in football, a two-time all-pro, a play-making machine. And the Eagles plan to go after him. Richard Sherman visits Philadelphia Sunday for the first time in his brilliant four-year career when the Seahawks face the Eagles at the Linc in a crucial game with enormous playoff implications.
Tough Task: Slowing Lynch's 'Beast Mode' - PE.com
He is in Beast Mode, running over, around and through defensive players. Running back Marshawn Lynch is a load, and then some, as the Eagles defensive players know very well ...
Eagles' Jeremy Maclin encourages students at North Philadelphia school - 6ABC
Jeremy Maclin is having the type of season kids dream about. And on Monday, he encouraged some local kids to make sure they too dream big. Maclin was a special guest at the St. James School, an independent Episcopal Day School in North Philadelphia. It is a place that takes kids growing up below the poverty line and ensures they get into some of the area's most prestigious high schools. Maclin says it means everything to be able to give back.
15 reasons NFL coaches don't want to become college football coaches - SB Nation
When NFL coaches leave for college jobs, it's usually because they aren't winning many games anyway. If Jim Harbaugh does it, it'll be because he is an unusual guy.
Darnell Dockett is live-tweeting jury duty, and it's spectacular - SB Nation
People say athletes get preferential treatment when it comes to the law, but we're pretty sure you can't Tweet from jury duty. Arizona Cardinals defensive end Darnell Dockett doesn't care -- and his messages from inside the jury room are amazing.
