Black Monday is underway, and Jets head coach Rex Ryan (along with general manager John Idzik) is out in New York. Ryan's firing is hardly a surprise given the team finished 4-12 and it was his fourth straight season without a winning record.
With Rex on the market, a number of fans have already suggested the Eagles should hire him as their defensive coordinator. Allow me to immediately crush those dreams: it's not going to happen. From Ryan's own mouth:
Rex told the CBS broadcasters what he has been telling friends for weeks: he will not take a defensive coordinator job next year. #nyj

So there you have it. And if that isn't enough for you, Kelly gave current Eagles defensive coordinator Bill Davis an endorsement during his final press conference on Monday morning.
Chip says Bill Davis did a really good job and plan is to go forward with him as DC. #Eagles

The Eagles' defense did take some steps forward in 2014. The front seven looked strong, they defended the run well, and they were able to rush the passer. The secondary, however, is in need of significant improvement from a personnel standpoint. It's up to general manager Howie Roseman and the Eagles front office to upgrade upon their defensive backs.
