There was a scary moment for the Eagles during the final quarter of their meaningless Week 17 finale against the New York Giants. Philadelphia running back LeSean McCoy was slow to get up after being tackled on a short rushing gain.
Must Reads
McCoy visibly expressed pain as he held his left knee before FOX cut away to commercial. When the broadcast returned, McCoy was shown walking to the sideline on his own power.
The Eagles ruled McCoy questionable to return to the game, but he did not return. Instead, the Eagles opted to let Chris Polk finish the game at running back.
After the game, Eagles coach Chip Kelly indicated that McCoy is fine. Kelly noted that McCoy even asked to go back into the game, but was held out as a precaution.
Philadelphia dodged a major bullet here. Seeing McCoy going down with a significant injury near the end of a meaningless game would have been a terrible way to cap off an already disappointing finish to the season.
