NFL Playoff Picture: Eagles officially eliminated, Cowboys clinch NFC East

Nail in the coffin.

It is official: the Philadelphia Eagles have been eliminated from making the 2015 NFL playoffs. The Eagles were knocked out when the Dallas Cowboys clinched the NFC East with a win over the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday evening.

The Eagles have no one to blame but themselves. The team was 9-3 entering December before suffering three straight losses. Philadelphia had a really good chance to be the first NFC East team since the early 2000s to win the division in back-to-back seasons but they totally blew it.

The Birds still have one game left to play: a Week 17 matchup against the New York Giants. The Giants were eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago so this it will be a fairly meaningless affair.

Perhaps the Eagles will look to mix in some of their backups and young players such as Marcus Smith II, Jaylen Watkins, Taylor Hart, etc. but there's no guarantee they will do that.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
