There was a report on Tuesday that Cole might try to play through the injury while wearing a cast, but it turns out that won't be the case. Cole hasn't missed a game since 2011.
With Cole out, expect Brandon Graham to start. Graham will be making his first starts in two years. It will be interesting to see how he performs in extended playing time. The Eagles are reportedly in the process of trying to extend Graham's contract.
Rookie first round pick Marcus Smith II could also get some playing time. Kelly noted Smith II will play at both inside and outside linebacker as needed against Washington.
Kelly was unsure if Cole will be able to return in Week 17 for the Eagles-Giants game. Due to a rising cap figure in 2015, it's possible Cole has already played his last game as a member of the Eagles.
