The Blame Game - Iggles Blitz
There are a lot of things to talk about this week. When you lose a key game and it’s to Dallas, there are going to be lots of issues that need discussing. What happened? Why did it happens? What does it mean? What’s next/ We can’t get to them all at once so try to be patient.
DeSean moves on, says he doesn't miss the Eagles - Inquirer
Jackson still pays attention to the Eagles. Asked if he thought the team missed him, he pointed to the production of Jeremy Maclin, his receiving counterpart for four seasons. "They still got Maclin. I'm happy for my boy. He's been dealing all year," Jackson said. "But it's Maclin and that's all they got."
Zone Read: Eagles-Cowboys, the Day After - Birds 24/7
There's tendency to overreact after games like this. The Eagles' defense has overachieved for much of the season, but came up small against Dallas. If we're looking ahead to the offseason, I think they need to find themselves a corner (adding two wouldn't be a horrible idea), a safety to pair with Jenkins and an inside linebacker. The starters on the defensive line are all back, although depth can always be addressed. They have to decide what to do on guys like Brandon Graham (a free agent) and Trent Cole. It's unclear what DeMeco Ryans' timetable to return is and how effective he'll be. But between Barwin, Fletcher Cox, Mychal Kendricks and others, there are some pieces to work with.
NFL-high 34 turnovers derailing Eagles' season - CSN Philly
The turnovers keep piling up. And so do the losses. If there’s one common theme in the Eagles’ nightmarish eight days that transformed them from a 9-3 team hoping for a first-round bye into a 9-5 team that needs help just to reach the playoffs, it’s turnovers. Lots and lots and lots of turnovers.
Time for Foles - ChipWagon
Let's face it. QBing in the NFL is not easy. Good QBs are hard to find, and more often than not, when you are forced to go to your back-up QB you can't expect them to dominate. The Mark Sanchez era in Philly got off to a nice start as Sanchez moved the ball and looked comfortable in the fast-paced offense. But as more teams got film on the new back-up, they slowly started to take away his comfort reads and he would have to evolve into a better QB over time. A few weeks back the discussion was whether Sanchez's career has been rejuvenated, or whether his success was coming from the system he was playing in. After his 6th start, it appears the jury is out. Mark Sanchez is what he is and always was. A flawed QB who doesn't make smart decisions and struggles with accuracy and consistency. That was on full display last night against the Cowboys.
Have Eagles really improved this season? - Inquirer
The growth that the Eagles have made under Chip Kelly this season, if they've made any at all, is a hard thing to judge. They're 9-5. If they win their next two games, they will finish a game better than they did last season, when they won the NFC East and hosted a playoff game and rebounded from that 4-12 bus crash in Andy Reid's final year as head coach. That was definitely progress. But even if the Eagles go 11-5 this year, they might miss the playoffs. Is that progress?
Help Wanted: Eagles Playoff Scenarios - PE.com
If the playoffs started today, the Eagles would not be in the postseason. But don't worry Eagles fans. There are still two weeks left in the regular season. If the Eagles handle their business, the odds are still in their favor that they will make the playoffs.
