He also notes that the Raiders could pair Gamble with current 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. Gamble and Harbaugh spent some time together in San Francisco before the Eagles hired Gamble away in the 2013 offseason.
It is hardly a surprise to see Gamble's name mentioned in front office rumors. The Eagles executive drew attention last offseason by a number of teams with general manager vacancies such as the Miami Dolphins and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Gamble ended up staying in Philadelphia to be close with his family. Gamble's father, former Eagles president Harry Gamble, then passed away in late January 2014.
ESPN Insider Adam Caplan recently noted that Gamble is the number one candidate for landing a general manager job this offseason. The Eagles face a very real possibility of losing him this offseason.
