Eagles-Panthers Injury Report: Evan Mathis set to make his return against Carolina

Eagles injury update for Saturday, November 8th, 2014.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles have released their final official injury report in preparation of their Week 10 game against the Carolina Panthers.

There are no surprises. Quarterback Nick Foles is the only player ruled out. All other players are listed as probable or better.

Foles is expected to be out for six to eight weeks but will have his injury re-evaluated in three or four weeks. Filling in for Foles will be veteran signal caller Mark Sanchez. Matt Barkley, now in his second year, will now serve as the backup to Sanchez. This game will mark the first time Barkley has been active all season. Wide receiver Brad Smith, who is returning from injury, will serve as the emergency third-string quarterback.

After missing the team's Week 9 game with a hamstring injury, Nate Allen is set to start at safety once again. Earl Wolff filled in for Allen but will now resume his special teams role.

All-Pro offensive lineman Evan Mathis will suit up this week for the first time since leaving the team's Week 1 game with an MCL injury. Mathis returned to practice two weeks ago and is ready to play. Mathis will take over at left guard while Matt Tobin likely shifts over to right guard to replace Todd Herremans. The team placed Herremans on the season-ending injured reserve list earlier in the week. That gives Philadelphia the following starting offensive line:

Left tackle: Jason Peters
Left guard: Evan Mathis
Center: Jason Kelce
Right guard: Matt Tobin
Right tackle: Lane Johnson

Tackle/guard Andrew Gardner, guard/center Julian Vandervelde, center David Molk, and guard/tackle Dennis Kelly are the backup offensive linemen.

Veteran inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Week 9 and was subsequently placed on injured reserve. Ryans will be replaced by the trio of Casey Matthews, Emmanuel Acho, and rookie first round linebacker Marcus Smith II.
