Eagles injury report: Nate Allen practices, LeSean McCoy sits out

An update on the Eagles Week 10 injury situation.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles returned to practice on Wednesday and there are a few updates on the team's injury situation as they prepare to face the Carolina Panthers. Keep in mind the Eagles run a light workout on their first practice of the week.

Starting safety Nate Allen returned to practice. Allen missed all of last week due to a hamstring suffered in Philadelphia's Week 8 game. Second-year safety Earl Wolff failed to impress while starting in place of Allen, so the team will hope the veteran can return to game action this week. Defensive coordinator Bill Davis noted that Allen is expected to play this week barring a setback, but is still listed as day-to-day.

Running back LeSean McCoy did not participate in practice. Indications are that McCoy sat out due to an "illness" and will return to practice on Thursday.

Nick Foles did not practice. The third-year quarterback is expected to miss at least three weeks due to a fractured collarbone. Mark Sanchez is obviously starting in place of Foles.

No other players on the active roster were missing from practice. Note that the team placed starting inside linebacker DeMeco Ryans and starting right guard Todd Herremans on the injured reserve list earlier this week. The trio of Casey Matthews, Emmanuel Acho, and Marcus Smith II will fill in for Ryans while Matt Tobin is expected to take over at right guard for Herremans.

Speaking of the offensive line, Evan Mathis returned to the active roster on Wednesday morning. The team's offensive line moving forward now looks like this:

Left tackle: Jason Peters
Left guard: Evan Mathis
Center: Jason Kelce
Right guard: Matt Tobin
Right tackle: Lane Johnson

If that unit can stay healthy, Philadelphia figures to be pretty strong up front.

The Eagles will release their first *official* Week 10 injury report tomorrow on Thursday.
