The Philadelphia Eagles have announced that wide receiver/kick returner Josh Huff has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for Week 12 of the 2014 NFL season.
The award is well-deserved. The rookie from Oregon returned the opening kickoff in Philadelphia's game against the Tennessee Titans 107 yards for a touchdown. Huff's return set a new record for the longest kick return in franchise history. Watch the play here:
With this award, Huff now also becomes the first Eagles rookie in franchise history to earn NFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors. Huff has struggled with turnovers and dropped passes this season but perhaps this moment is a sign of him turning the corner.
It's no secret that Philadelphia's special teams have been a major strength this season. Veteran running back Darren Sproles has already won two Special Teams Player of the Week awards due to his punt return touchdowns.
