A theme post the SB Nation NFL sites have been done in the past and will continue to do throughout this season is "Which [opposing team's] player would [your favorite team's] fans take?" With the Philadelphia Eagles set to take on the Green Bay Packers this week, it's time to address the question.
Do I really have to explain? It's simple: Green Bay's quarterback is the best in the NFL. He's simply been on fire this year: 25 touchdown, three interceptions, 2,407 yards, league-leading 8.7 yards per attempt, and a passer rating of 120.1. Rodgers also ranks 10th among NFL quarterbacks with 112 rushing yards.
While Rodgers can certainly thrive in any system, it would be even more incredible to watch Rodgers play for Eagles head coach Chip Kelly. Imagining it almost seems unfair. Putting Rodgers on this Eagles team would make them virtually unstoppable.
But since Rodgers is too obvious of a pick, let's talk about some other options. Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson would be a huge upgrade over Riley Cooper. Nelson has racked up 889 yards on 56 receptions (15.9 average) this season for eight touchdowns. Fellow Green Bay wideout Randall Cobb, on the other hand, leads the league in touchdowns scored by receivers with 10.
There are a number of big names that stick out on the Green Bay defense, especially when it comes to rushing the passer. Starting outside linebackers Julius Peppers and Clay Matthews are worth consideration. With the Eagles pass rush looking good, however, maybe it makes more sense to consider defensive back options. Casey Heyward or Sam Shields would serve as an upgrade over one of the Eagles starting cornerbacks.
