Eagles to Wear Black Uniforms against New York Giants

Back in black.

Mark L. Baer-USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Eagles will be sporting their black alternate uniforms this upcoming Sunday, October 12 as the team faces the New York Giants in a potential battle for first place in the NFC East.

Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro has the scoop:

Philadelphia has been forced to wear their white jerseys for the first five weeks of the 2014 NFL season because their standard midnight green home jerseys weren't made ready in time. Spadaro notes that the midnight green will be ready after the Eagles' Week 7 bye. However, the team plays away on the road in Week 8 (Arizona Cardinals) and Week 9 (Houston Texans) so it might not be until Week 10 (Carolina Panthers) that the midnight green uniform returns.

The Eagles' black jerseys tend to be polarizing. Some fans think they're great, others really don't like them at all.

The last time Philadelphia wore their black jerseys in regular season action was when the Eagles beat the Cardinals at home in 2013 by a score of 24-21.
