Eagles Lose to Cardinals: 10 Things We Learned - BLG, BGN
Here's what we learned from the Philadelphia Eagles' 24-20 loss to the Arizona Cardinals.
Handing out 10 awards from the Eagles-Cardinals game - Philly.com
Maclin is now on pace for 89 catches, 1444 yards and 14 TDs. If he keeps up a pace anywhere close to that, the Eagles are going to have to pay him a boatload of money to keep him this offseason, when Maclin is scheduled to become a free agent.
I Can’t Think of a Good Title - Iggles Blitz
Man, Nick Foles is getting some serious heat tonight. Some think he is an average QB. Some think he is a bad QB. Some think the Eagles must insert Mark Sanchez as the starter. Many are sure that we have learned one thing…Foles should not be the Eagles QB for the long term.
Eagles Burned By the ‘X’ Plays - Birds 24/7
One of the biggest things that Billy Davis has stressed to his defense since taking over is the importance of avoiding "X" plays, or plays of 20 yards or more. And through the first six game the Eagles were pretty good in that department, yielding 21 X-plays through the air, good for the eighth lowest mark in the league. On Sunday in the desert, however, it was the big plays that did them in. Davis’ group surrendered seven plays of 20-plus yards to the Cardinals, including a pair long touchdowns that proved to be the difference in the game.
This time, turnovers finally catch up with Eagles - CSN Philly
They keep talking about it. They keep emphasizing it. They keep promising that it will stop. Then it happens again. The Eagles committed three more turnovers Sunday, three more costly turnovers, and that’s 17 in seven games.
Plenty of blame to go around as Eagles come unglued in the desert - The 700 Level
Where to begin? With two more turnovers, Nick Foles is an easy target. Josh Huff’s fumble didn’t help. Chip Kelly’s game management sure left a lot to be desired. Nate Allen’s meltdown in coverage was the final nail in the coffin. Despite everything that went wrong, the Philadelphia Eagles had three shots to win the game from the Arizona Cardinals 16-yard line with 13 seconds remaining. That wasn’t enough. For the second time this season, the Birds were halted during a potential game-winning drive, falling 24-20 out in the desert on Sunday.
Two big plays tarnish Eagles defense - Inquirer
Had the defense of coordinator Bill Davis justified Kelly's confidence, this would have been regarded as perhaps the culmination of a long journey for that unit. Locking down this win, on the heels of the pre-bye shutout over the Giants, would have calmed a lot of fears. Instead, it was a gut punch to a defense that had to question itself on the long ride home. (Not to mention the confidence of the offensive players who had to wonder why Kelly didn't trust them to win the game.)
Eagles Can't Hold Late Lead - PE.com
GLENDALE, Ariz. – One minute, 56 seconds remained in a game that meant so much with thousands of Eagles fans in the stands, howling their support. The Eagles held a three-point lead on Arizona after Cody Parkey’s 20-yard field goal. How did the Eagles handle the final Arizona drive? What did it mean for this team to falter, 24-20, losing a game it again had in its hands to win ...
The worst trick play kick return ever, starring the Jets and Percy Harvin - SB Nation
If a facepalm could take the shape of a football play, it'd be this one.
